James Lessons have given me an insight into many aspects of music and guitar playing that I didn’t come across when teaching myself. I have most enjoyed the way James will teach you with a song that you enjoy but will use it to build on your overall skills on the guitar including technique, theory, chords and scales, fret board knowledge aural skills and even song writing. Learning to use what I learnt from a song in other areas of my playing has made learning that song more valuable. – John

I had guitar lessons for 2 years before starting to see James, with my old teacher we used to play through songs that I got some enjoyment out of playing but never was really motivated to practice. James helped me to establish what I wanted from the lessons and worked to find material that motivated me to practice more often. Another service James offered was to make an accurate transcription of any song I wanted to learn which offered me both the TABS and rhythmic content to study the song with. Lara
I used to study classical Violin so was used to a much more conventional way of learning an instrument. Learning contemporary guitar with James has opened my eyes to a whole new understanding of music and allowed me to have more fun and be more creative with my instrument. – Selena
James helped me prepare for my year 10 GCSE performances on guitar. He helped me choose pieces based on my ability and interests and then worked to give me a thorough understanding of them. Having limited time for lessons James often stayed for longer to ensure I was on my way to giving the best performance for my exam. The week before my exam I got told I needed to learn some extra things about the pieces so James met up with me on Skype to answer any questions and bring me up to scratch. – Jacob
